Amy Amatya
Amy Amatya is a violinist/guitarist, composer, and songwriter from Los Angeles.
With a sharp technical ear and expressive playing style, she does session work, live performances, remote string arrangement, media scoring, and produces her own artist project. Amy combines her foundation in classical orchestral music with a passion for traditional folk storytelling to build a distinctly eerie yet beautiful sound.
She began piano lessons at age three and violin at age eight. By age 17, she had already performed with symphonies like the NAfME All-National Orchestra; played venues like the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Peacock Theater, and Grand Ole Opry; won local solo competitions; toured abroad with chamber ensembles; gigged weddings and corporate events around LA; and performed with Lindsey Stirling and Weird Al.
She has since expanded her skillset into music production, scoring for picture, and guitar. She is praised by other guitarists for a unique compositional style that combines classical fingerstyle with metal sensibilities. Her entrancing solo performances consist of looping classical guitar and improvising violin melodies on top.
She writes dark cinematic folk music under under her solo project, Kaigara, and releases instrumental music as Amy Amatya.
She holds a bachelors degree in climate science from Princeton University.
